Built To Be Used By Everyone
What we aim for
This site targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is the standard most public bodies in the United States are held to, and it is the one worth holding a plumbing website to as well.
What that means in practice
Every interactive control clears the 24 by 24 pixel minimum target size, and the important ones, like the phone button and the menu, clear 44 by 44.
Keyboard users can reach and operate everything. The menus open on focus as well as hover, Escape closes them, and the mobile drawer keeps focus inside it while it is open and hands focus back when it closes.
The focus indicator is a two-tone ring, light inside and dark outside, so it stays visible against a white section, a navy band or a red button.
Images that carry meaning have text alternatives, headings run in order, and the page is readable and usable down to a 320 pixel wide screen.
Where we know we are not there yet
Color contrast on a small number of decorative elements is still being worked through. If something is hard to read, we would rather hear about it than not.
This statement describes the site as built. It will be re-checked whenever the site changes.
