Gas Line Repair In San Diego County
Gas Work Is Not The Place To Save Money
If you smell gas right now, stop reading this page
Do these things in this order. Do not call us first.
- Get everyone out of the building. Leave the door open behind you.
- Do not switch anything on or off, including lights, and do not use a phone indoors.
- From outside, call SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343 or 911.
- Call us once the gas company has made the property safe. That is when repair work starts.
We would rather lose the call than have you stay inside to fill in a form.
Gas Line Repair, Replacement And New Installation
Gas work is the one part of plumbing where a shortcut does not produce a leak you mop up. It produces a fire, or carbon monoxide, or an explosion. That is the entire reason this work is licensed, permitted and pressure tested, and the reason we will not do it any other way.
Every gas job we do is permitted where a permit is required, pressure tested before it is signed off, and inspected. If a contractor offers to skip the permit to save you a few hundred dollars, what they are actually offering is untested gas piping in your walls and a problem at resale.
We repair, replace and install gas lines for appliances, ranges, dryers, fire pits, pool heaters and outdoor kitchens, residential and commercial.
- Licensed gas piping, CSLB #1103201
- Permitted and inspected where required
- Pressure tested before sign-off, every time
- Electronic leak detection, minimal demolition

Signs Of A Gas Line Problem
The first two mean leave the building now. The rest mean book an inspection this week.
A Rotten Egg Smell
Natural gas has no odor of its own. The sulfur smell is added deliberately so you can detect a leak. If you can smell it, treat it as a leak, leave, and call the gas company from outside.
Hissing Near A Line Or Appliance
Audible gas escaping under pressure. Do not go looking for the source, do not switch anything on or off, and get out.
A Gas Bill That Climbed
Usage that rose with no change in habit means gas is going somewhere. A small leak is often invisible and odorless at distance, and shows up on the bill first.
Dead Vegetation Over A Line
Grass or plants dying in a patch along the gas run, with everything around them healthy. Gas in the soil displaces the oxygen roots need.
Headaches Or Nausea Indoors
Symptoms that ease when you leave the house and return when you come back. That pattern is the signal, and it needs professional attention rather than a window opened.
A Yellow Or Orange Burner Flame
A properly burning gas flame is blue. Yellow or orange means incomplete combustion, which produces carbon monoxide. Stop using the appliance and have it checked.

All of it permitted where a permit applies, and pressure tested regardless.

Permitted Gas Work Versus The Cheaper Quote
Somebody will offer to do this without a permit. Here is exactly what you give up.
| Permitted And Tested | The Cheaper Quote | |
|---|---|---|
| Pressure test | Performed and documented | Often skipped entirely |
| Inspection | Independent set of eyes on the work | Nobody checks it but the installer |
| At resale | Documented, permitted, no issue | Unpermitted work found in escrow |
| Insurance | Claim stands after an incident | Unpermitted gas work can void it |
| Who is liable | Licensed and insured contractor | Frequently you |
| If it fails | Warranty and a company that answers | Depends who you can still reach |
| What you save | Permit fee and inspection time | That fee, and nothing else |
How A Gas Job Runs
Inspect And Locate
Electronic leak detection and a look at the whole system, so the repair is aimed at the actual fault rather than the nearest joint.
Written Price, Permit Included
Scope, material and permit in one written price. If the job needs an inspection, that is in there too rather than added later.
Pressure Tested And Signed Off
The line is pressure tested before anything is closed up, inspected where required, and documented for your records.
