What we did, from the work order
Called out for a slab leak, with the leak location already marked under the kitchen cabinets. Recommended and got authorization for a single-line reroute of the hot water to the kitchen sink. Capped off the manifold behind the washing machine hot water hookup, ran a new 1/2 inch hot water PEX line from the water heater through the ceiling to the kitchen, and made every connection in PEX and solder.
A slab leak does not always mean breaking concrete. When the run is short and the ceiling is accessible, rerouting the single affected line is faster, cheaper and leaves the floor intact.
