Two pinholes in a 1 1/4 inch hot main, found electronically before anyone picked up a jackhammer.
Slab Leak Repair in Escondido
What we did, from the work order
With the tenant’s permission, performed electronic leak detection and located the source on the hot water main in the dining room. Removed one layer of laminate and three layers of linoleum over the leak, jackhammered the concrete and excavated to expose the 1 1/4 inch hot side copper main, which had two large pinhole leaks. Photographed the findings and showed the customer. Shut down the hot water system and the building’s water service, cut out the damaged section, cleaned and prepared the connection points, and installed a new section of 1 1/4 inch type L copper with two new couplings. Restored service and tested. No leaks. Backfilled the trench with new sand, patched the concrete and cleaned up.
Electronic detection is what keeps a slab repair to one patch instead of an exploratory demolition. The customer saw photographs of the pinholes before the concrete was cut, and the floor was backfilled and patched the same visit.
