What we did, from the work order
Called out for a leak under the tub and found the old hallway tub itself leaking, then received authorization to replace the tub and surround. Demoed the old fiberglass tub and walls, shut off water to the building, cut out the old shower valve and plumbed in a new Moen Posi-Temp valve. Installed a new waste and overflow, a new fiberglass tub and shower walls, raised the shower head, and fitted new shower trim, tub spout and head. Cleaned up and hauled away the old tub and walls.
A leak under a fiberglass tub is often the tub, not the plumbing under it. Once that is established the repair is a replacement, and the valve is worth doing at the same time because the wall is already open.
